Days 57-63: Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Halong Bay

Somebody’s dancing! They are on the Great Wall of China (Mum note: They are by Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi). The lady peddles the boat to make it move. I was just chilling. Then I was peddling because I wanted to. Then I saw a monkey on the Great Wall of China (Mum note: This was at Halong Bay). The sunset is good – yeah it is. Then I was riding on a baby seat on a bike with daddy. Then I was doing Big Lady statue! (Statue of Liberty) I am swimming in the water (Mum note: Sorry Marshall you did not swim here).

Day 12: Camping in Cape Le Grand

We almost didn’t get to spend the night in Cape Le Grand – arriving in the park, we realised the fuel in our tank wouldn’t get us to Lucky Bay and back. So we counted kilometres with no air conditioning and found the nearest petrol station just in time to make it back to the site before the sun went down. It was an incredibly windy night – but when you are that close to the ocean the wind is just like a speaker for the waves. I couldn’t think of a better lullaby or alarm clock. – Mum

Bye bye Marshall! See you later! We are having a party because I am leaving.

Please help me choose a Halloween costume

Anyone at all familiar with this blog should know that I will take any excuse I can to wear a costume.

It’s almost that time of year where I actually have a reason, validated by a holiday AND candy to dress up.

I would love for your input on what I should wear this year.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Warm regards,

The {Tiny} Times

All aboard the knitted train

I have already pre-selected every birthday cake up until I turn 18 from The Australian Women’s Weekly Children’s Birthday Cake Book, or as I prefer to call it, “Train Cake Book”.

Fusing my love for the book and my mum’s love of knitting, she made me this knitted version of the train cake from the cover:

As if I wasn’t already excited enough, yesterday my mum helped release an interactive edition of Train Cake for iPad. This is the only thing I will ever need again on my iPad. Ever.

Meets Easter Bunny, is terrified

My friend and I went for an Easter egg hunt, hosted by the Easter Bunny himself.

I should have realised that a giant bunny wearing a bow tie would be terrifying.

My friend cried, I hid.

He tried to fist bump me. I said “no”.

Look at him.

We came around when we heard he had lots of chocolate. We had fun looking for it.

It was a nice afternoon, but I was happy to say goodbye until next year. Serves us right for not going to church.

Race to find a cure for a rare illness

On 3 February 2013 Jai is participating in Australia’s largest ocean swim – go Jai!

Jai is 15 and has Friedreich’s Ataxia, a rare disease that causes progressive damage to the nervous system, resulting in muscle weakness, diabetes and heart disease. His friends and family have joined together to ask people to lend him some muscle.

I have solicited the assistance of my mum’s knitted silverback gorilla since we all know how strong they are :)

You can help Jai raise awareness and funds by snapping a pic of you flexing, sharing it on his Facebook page and with your friends, and donating here. All Jai’s proceeds are going to the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Association to help find a cure.

YAY JAI!

ksubi Kid launches colourful new range, mum gets sentimental

I checked out these samples from the new ksubi Kid range for Target, which is available for pre-order online now but not in store until 12 December.

This line is how I imagine the 1990s would have looked. Or, what my mum calls, “the good old days” when The Fresh Prince of Bel Air ruled the world.
